About
The Site
Terrible Idea is a general interest blog written by me, a twenty-something law student. I write about whatever strikes my interest. Lately, this has included the law, technology, and popular media.
The “Links” section is an abbreviated list of sites that have in my RSS reader. It’s a little law-heavy as of this writing, but should give you a feel for my interests.
I also try to write little vignettes about moments of experience I have living in Washington, DC. They’re generally terrible, but I’ve come to realize that practice really does help with writing, so I will try, try, and try again. If you don’t like them, don’t read them.
The banner on the top is a depiction of Napoleon’s winter 1812-13 invasion of Russia. Winter invasions of Russia have historically been terrible ideas.
Me, me, me!
I was born in the mid-1980s, and aside from brief stints working part-time for an electronics retailer and for an IT support staff, I have been in some form of school for my entire life. Currently, I’m working on my JD from the George Washington University Law School. I have a Bachelor of Arts from Hillsdale College, a small, conservative mid-western liberal arts school.
Basically, I have had no real-world experience whatsoever. My JD will be my first practical degree, but as any practicing attorney will tell you, you don’t learn much about the practice of law in law school. So, law school doesn’t count toward “practical knowledge” either. This will color many of my thoughts and opinions in this blog, so keep that in mind when reading.
