It is truly an amazing show. Contender for the best show on TV. Ever. No joke.

Best Drama-The Wire (2nd place Nip/Tuck)
Best Comedy-Arrested Development (2nd place, also Arrested Development)
Best Comedy with a Laugh Track-How I Met Your Mother (2nd place, Frasier)

No, haven't seen The Wire yet, but after your recommendation, and an independent recommendation from a classmate, I'll definitely check it out.

Personally, I think that the Wire does it the best. The story is planned, but it has room within each episode to focus upon particular stories depending upon input from viewers. Take the character of Omar. Omar, a homosexual who is the most feared stick-up man on the streets of Baltimore was originally only intended to be in a few episodes. Viewers loved him. http://www.afterelton.com/blog/brianjuergens/barack-obama-favorite-character-the-wire-gay-thief-omar

I'm only on the second season, but I have read that he goes on to become one of the principal players.

BTW, have you watched this show. It is amazing. I only watch two shows right now, The Wire and BSG.
